Sustainable Materials and Interfaces for Life and Environment
What we research

Our research lines

Three complementary fronts united by the same purpose: sustainable materials that improve life and the environment.

Biomaterials

Materials for regeneration and health

We develop natural and synthetic biomaterials that interact safely and efficiently with biological systems. We study the preparation, modification and characterization of materials for tissue engineering, bone and skin regeneration, controlled release of therapeutic agents and biomedical devices. Combining materials science, nanotechnology and biotechnology, we seek solutions to current challenges in regenerative medicine.

Catalysis and Photocatalysis

Functional materials for sustainable processes

We develop advanced catalytic and photocatalytic materials that make chemical reactions more efficient and sustainable. We work on the synthesis and engineering of semiconductors, metal oxides and nanomaterials for environmental, energy and industrial applications, focusing on contaminant degradation, generation of reactive species and chemical conversion, always in line with the principles of green chemistry.

Antimicrobial Technologies

Innovative solutions for microbial control

We investigate materials with antimicrobial properties for biomedical, environmental and industrial applications. Using nanomaterials, photocatalytic systems and functional biomaterials, we seek to prevent infections, control biofilms and reduce the spread of pathogenic microorganisms, with potential for smart surfaces, advanced wound dressings, biomedical devices and environmental treatment.
